Nepal got crushed by Canada in their first warm-up match

On 27 May, Nepal got crushed by Canada in their first warm-up match with a whopping 67-run margin.

Canada went to bat first and scored 183/7 in 20 overs. Nepal struggled to chase down the target of 184 runs, managing only 120 runs in 19.3 overs.

Kushal Bhurtel’s and Anil Sah opened the batting for Nepali side. This duo couldn’t contribute much as Bhurtel departed on 5th over with 10 runs from 15 balls .Aasif Sheikh and Anil Sah steadied the innings momentarily with a 39-run partnership, contributing 22 and 24 runs respectively before their dismissals in the ninth and tenth overs.

Rohit Paudel, Sundeep Jora, Gulshan Jha, and Sompal Kami failed to make significant contributions with the bat. Kushal Malla was the top-score from Nepal with of 37 runs off 30 balls.

Dilon Heyliger‘s dismissed Sagar Dhakal and Abinash Bohara, secured victory for Canada. Heyliger was the standout bowler, claiming four wickets, supported by Jeremy Gordon and Saad Bin Zafar, who took two wickets each.

Despite Nepal’s initial control over the match, Canada accelerated in the final overs, scoring 55 runs from the last three overs. Sompal Kami, Abinash Bohara, and Karan KC were expensive in the latter stages, allowing Ravinderpal Singh to cause damage to Nepal’s chance with an unbeaten 41 off just 17 balls.

In bowling, Abinash Bohara stood out for Nepal with two wickets, while Sagar Dhakal, Lalit Rajbanshi, Sompal Kami, Gulshan Jha, and Karan KC each grabbed a wicket.

Nepal’s upcoming warm-up game is against the USA on May 30 at the same venue, with their opening match against the Netherlands scheduled for June 4 at Grand Prairie Stadium.
